The Volvo V50 T5 is powered by a five-cylinder, 2.5 litre, transverse 20 valve, turbocharged petrol engine which produces 220 PS at 5000 rpm enabling it to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 6.9 seconds and continue to a top speed of 149 mph.
The 2.5 litre turbocharged engine delivers the power without any drama which can leave the driver with the illusion that the V50 T5 is not a particularly quick car but with a 0-62 mph time of 6.9 seconds that can be achieved in one gearchange this is only an illusion.
